Topless Sunbathing
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 at 2:17 pmReports coming from France have found that the on
ce hugely popular practice of topless is quickly going out of fashion, thanks to a change in attitude toward nakedness and displaying too much flesh across the channel.
Regulars at the La Voile Rouge beach club in St Tropez is apparently where actress’ from the film ‘And God Created Woman’ chose to keep their tops on while sunbathing, which kick started the craze.
Some describe it as an overwhelming conservatism that is sweeping France, in a country that had always prided itself for being less prudish that it’s northern neighbours.
Others are far less concerned, calling it just a change in fashion. In the 70’s and 80’s people wore mini skirts and skimpy tops, but people are covering up more these days, it is just the fashion as women want men to use their imagination and fantasie rather than revealing all.
Others say it is more to do increased health concerns and protection from skin cancer. Where beaches might once have been full of topless ladies, nowadays people are bing more senisble and covering up for longer periods.
Another widely discussed reason for the the anti-topless trend is a growing awareness of the offence that topless sunbathing might cause, especially in relation to sensitivity towards the muslim community.
